TSL Baby: Weeks 23-26

I'm a little late with this post, since I started Week 27 on Monday.  I can't believe I'm almost in my third trimester (or according to some sources, I started the third trimester this week)!  So, let's catch up, shall we?

Baby: At Week 26, Baby was the size of a large zucchini, just under 2lbs.

Feel any movement?  YES!  Lots of movement!  This past month has been so fun.  I first started to feel her kick in Week 23, but it was so faint that it took me a while to figure out what was going on.  It felt almost like little bubbles popping in my tummy.  During my Week 24 sonogram, I was able to watch the baby kick while I felt the sensation.  We also figured out that some of the stronger bubbles that I had been feeling was actually the baby head-butting me!  By the end of Week 26, I could feel her routinely and I love feeling her move around in my belly.

Symptoms:  The end of the second trimester has been really good to me.  My energy levels remain steady and I have been able to keep up with exercise this past month pretty well.  My insomnia has still been hanging around, and I'm usually up once or twice a night for bathroom breaks.

I've been dealing with some minor hip pain this past week, but up until now I haven't been feeling many aches or pains yet.  I'm grateful for that and think that keeping up with exercise has played a big role in helping me stay loose and pain-free.  Here's hoping I can keep up my exercise routine as long as possible in the third trimester!

Food Cravings:  Believe it or not, I haven't really had any serious food cravings these days.  I continue to enjoy apples daily.  My sweet tooth, which had vanished for quite a while there, has come back slightly so yay for ice cream back in my life (in moderation, of course)!  Also, lots of peanut butter - but that's kind of normal for me :)

Food Aversions:  Still no guacamole.  Other than that, no real aversions.

Pregnancy Life:  This past month was a busy one for both Steve and me.  I went to Florida for a long weekend with my friend Jess and had a great time.  Each morning, I walked the beach for half an hour or so and as I walked, I talked to the baby and dreamt about what it will be like to meet her.  It was so fun.

I also had a great time in Virginia spending Easter with my grandma and my aunt's family.  Steve traveled to DC for work and spent Easter in Alabama with his grandmother, so between the two of us we racked up a lot of frequent flier miles!

Steve's folks came to visit for a long weekend.  Our weekend was pretty jam-packed with a Rangers game, the Bush library and a delicious Tex Mex dinner with my folks.  We had a lot of fun hosting Sandy and Ed before the baby comes and takes center stage!

Nursery Plans: Our glider arrived last weekend and it is a perfect fit for the nursery.  I've also ordered a few smaller things for the room, like a standing lamp and end table, so the room is slowly coming together.  Now, just need to paint the nursery walls so that I can start to really organize the space!

Pregnancy Exercise:  Still sticking with spin classes ~2-3 times per week, and elliptical + weights ~2 days per week.  Steve and I have also taken to going on longer walks in the evening with Lyla.  The walks have been a nice way to wind down at the end of the work day and to stretch out after being in the office all day.

Appointment Updates:  I passed my gestational diabetes test at my Week 24 appointment, which was a huge relief!  I must say, the gestational diabetes drink tasted terrible and waiting for the test was pretty miserable.  So I'm glad it's behind me.  As of Week 24, the baby is growing right on schedule and she was so active during our sonogram!  She kept twisting, turning, flipping and kicking.  Watching her on the screen was so fun.

Looking Forward To:  This upcoming month brings baby showers!  I am traveling up to Indiana at the end of April for a joint baby shower with my sister-in-law (who is expecting ~7 weeks after me) at my mother-in-law's home, and a baby shower brunch hosted by my best girl friends up in Indy.  I have some Dallas shower plans in the works too, and am just really excited about getting together with all the women I love in my life to prepare for Baby Simcox's arrival.  I'm so grateful to the wonder women in my life who are putting together these celebrations for Baby Simcox.

And to wrap up the post, a collage of all of my "bumpies" so far in this pregnancy!
